Erica is a native U.S. Virgin Islander and began her behavioral health career over 30 years ago as a mental health worker at New York State Psychiatric Institute working at the Schizophrenia Research Unit with Eli Lilly and Company, where she monitored patients for symptoms of schizophrenia on the antipsychotic medication Olanzapine.
She went on to work in the Eating Disorder, Borderline, and Substance Use Disorder Units and at the Outpatient Drop In Center and Inpatient Forensic Hospital. Erica quickly recognized the lack of cultural competency among mental health professionals and decided to complete her master’s in clinical social work at New York University to raise awareness in the mental health field.
Erica is a certified clinical trauma professional in complex trauma and has responded to numerous critical incident events in inpatient hospitals and in national disaster recovery in other countries. She has held senior leadership roles including Executive Director, Director of Risk Management, and Clinical Director, in which she received the Leader of the Quarter Award. Erica is committed to individuals receiving quality care and access to mental health services.
