Strategic Planning Consultant Request for Proposal

Community Forward SF is looking for an experienced strategic planning consultant to help drive the planning process to develop a 3-year plan for the organization.

We are looking for support designing the process and ensuring that it drives the organization toward clear outcomes as well as well-honed facilitation skills to lead a participant-driven process. We are open to working with firms that would bring a team with diverse skill sets or individuals who are able to conduct the full scope of the project.

An ideal candidate or firm would embody the following attributes:

  • Participant-driven: Our clients and staff are the center of our work and need to be the center of our planning process. We are looking for consultants who bring experience with user-centered design.

  • Lightweight process: We are looking for someone who likes to move quickly and can bring energy and focus to our team to help guide a process that doesn’t drain time from our critical work.

  • Cultural fit: Our clients are primarily women of color with lived experience of homelessness, interpersonal violence, and are older in age. The demographics of our staff reflect the experiences of our clients, with 49% of our staff being African American and around 65% identifying as female. In addition, we prioritize hiring staff with lived experience, allowing our staff to better connect with the experiences of our guests. We are looking for a facilitator(s) who will be able to build a genuine rapport with our clients and staff to help draw out their wisdom and contribute to a shared vision.

  • Sustainability-focused: An ideal planning team would also be able to incorporate market analysis and help us assess long-term revenue sustainability. Experience working with nonprofits that have many revenue streams from city contracts is preferred.

We are accepting proposals between now and October 25th. Please send your proposal to Sammie Rayner, Co-Chief Executive Officer at sammie.rayner@communityforwardsf.org
