Housing Justice for Women: A Call to Action
San Francisco is in the midst of a housing crisis, and for women—especially those experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, or systemic barriers—the challenges are even greater. Join the SF Women’s Housing Coalition on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11:30 AM at San Francisco City Hall to take a stand for affordable, accessible, and secure housing for women.
At San Francisco City Hall, voices from across the city will unite to demand affordable, accessible, and secure housing for women. This is more than just a rally—it’s a moment to listen, to learn, and to act.
Attendees will hear firsthand accounts from women impacted by the housing crisis, as well as inspiring calls to action from a powerhouse lineup of community leaders including Kimberly Ellis, Director of the Department on the Status of Women, Honey Mahogany, Director of the Office of Transgender Initiatives, Mayor Daniel Lurie’s Office, and San Francisco Supervisors.
Housing insecurity is not just a statistic—it’s a lived reality for thousands of women in San Francisco. Sammie Rayner, Chair Emeritus of the Women’s Housing Coalition, is making it clear that this crisis demands urgent action.
"Women deserve a seat at the table—and not just as an afterthought. Policy decisions impacting women must be shaped by their voices, especially those experiencing homelessness and violence. Right now, women and gender-diverse individuals make up nearly half of San Francisco’s homeless population but receive less than 5% of available resources. This is a systemic failure that demands immediate action. The City must release the $30 million in Prop A funds, as voters overwhelmingly supported. Survivors cannot wait. The time to act is now."
The WHC is urging everyone to show up, lend their voices, and be part of the movement to create real, lasting change.
When we rally together, we make an impact. Will you be there?
