One Life at a Time: Meet Lani Jones

For Lani Jones, the path to housing stability is personal. Through her own experiences with housing instability, as well as those of family and friends, she understands how difficult it can be to navigate the barriers that stand between homelessness and a safe, stable home.

That understanding shapes how Lani approaches her work as a case manager with Community Forward SF’s Women’s Flex Housing Subsidy Program. Since joining the team in October, she has worked alongside participants as they search for housing, connect with resources, overcome barriers, and pursue goals that are important to them.

For Lani, the most meaningful part of the work is seeing what becomes possible along the way. Whether a participant secures housing, connects to a critical resource, or reaches a personal milestone, she sees each accomplishment as a reflection of their determination and resilience.

“Knowing that I am making a difference one life at a time is very healing and rewarding for me,” Lani shares.

Her background  in behavioral health and caregiving has also shaped her approach, reinforcing the importance of meeting each person with patience and recognizing that no two journeys toward stability look the same.

Today, Lani is part of a team helping women move toward lasting housing stability–and she finds purpose in every step forward. For her, the work is about more than helping someone find a home. It’s about being there as people create new possibilities for what comes next.
