Proud Every Day: Standing with our LGBTQIA+ Community
This Pride Month, we honor the power of community to create lasting, systemic change.
At Community Forward SF, we know that Pride is a powerful reminder of the ongoing fight for justice, equity, and dignity. For many of our clients, particularly LGBTQIA+ individuals, Pride is also a reflection of daily courage in the face of adversity.
During June, we proudly joined the San Francisco Pride Parade alongside Supervisor Matt Haney and tabled the Trans March Resource Fair—standing in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ community. Staff and community members showed up to celebrate Pride and amplifying queer voices. Both were wonderful events centering queer joy, community power, and the unapologetic celebration of identity.
We believe that everyone—regardless of identity, background, or circumstance—deserves more than just a place to survive. They deserve a place to heal. To be seen. To be safe. To belong.
That’s why our work goes beyond shelter. Every day, we support people who have been pushed to the margins—queer folks, BIPOC communities, survivors of violence—with trauma-informed care that includes:
Access to safe, gender-inclusive shelter
Comprehensive case management and housing navigation
Medical care and basic needs assistance
This work is urgent. In San Francisco, LGBTQIA+ individuals—especially trans women of color—continue to experience disproportionately high rates of homelessness, violence, and systemic discrimination. We are here to change that.
As Marsha P. Johnson once powerfully said:
“No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.”
As we wrap up the month of June and reflect on Pride, we also recommit ourselves to advocacy, care, and the daily fight for equity.
We’re proud to stand with our LGBTQIA+ community—not just in June, but every day. And we’re grateful for you—for standing with us, for showing up, and for believing in a city where everyone belongs.
Let’s celebrate Pride by continuing to build a future rooted in justice, love, and radical inclusion.
